ALDE ADLE Seminar (Full Video Event): Turkey's european identity and the role of culture and media<br /><br />Event date: 30/09/10 09:00 to 12:30<br />Location: BE BRUSSELS A3E-2<br /><br />The relations between Turkey and the EU are one of the most debated topics within the EU. Not only because Turkey is a candidate country and is currently conducting accession negotiations with the EU, or because it has established one of the deepest economic relationships with the Union as a third country but also because its accession process is put at the top of the political agenda of many EU member states. <br /><br />Turkey's accession process is a big test for the EU itself, which, following successive enlargements and the adoption of the Lisbon Treaty, has been striving to define and consolidate a 'European' identity.<br /><br />Yet, the role of the cultural and media sectors is less prominently acknowledged . .
